An international petition is being organised to try to limit the use of pesticides harmful to bees, with the list of signatures being handed in to Agriculture Ministries in Germany, France, Netherlands, Latvia, Italy and our own Department of Agriculture in Dublin on Thursday, 9th May, ahead of the EU Bee Guidance vote in the EU on 20th May. We would like to get as many people as possible to sign this petition to show Irish beekeepers’ support – click here for the petition.
Representatives of Irish Beekeepers will hand in the list of signatures to DAFM on the 9th May. We would love you to be there – wear your bee suit to make the point (although that’s not a requirement). However, if you can’t make it on the day, make sure you sign the petition to help protect your bees.
We’ll gather outside the Dept of Agriculture on Kildare Street, Dublin, at 12 noon on Thursday, 9th May. Mary Montaut, the An Beachaire editor, will be there in a bee suit, so please come along and join in, preferably in a bee suit but that’s not necessary. Mary is happy to act as the contact point – her E-mail address is FIBKAeditor@connect.ie.
