Bees are fascinating and one of the joys of being a beekeeper is to share our fascination with the next generation.
Indeed, we should see it as an integral part of our role to educate young people about the importance of pollinators, including our favourite, the honey bee.
We encourage all our Associations to engage with their local schools and youth groups to further this aim.
Fortunately, young people find bees as fascinating as we do and are quick to give a beekeeper their attention.
We encourage young people to participate in beekeeping with a special Junior Membership rate available through their local Beekeepers’ Association.
Each year we train a team of young people to represent Ireland at the International Meeting of Young Beekeepers.
We offer a free educational presentation tool for beekeepers and educators to use in the classroom via our website.
For all queries please contact youth@irishbeekeeping.ie.
