Commercially Located Hives

Hi all

There has been a huge increase in the number of companies contracting with beekeepers to locate hives on their property, typically on the roof of their building. I have clarified with our insurer that this is covered by insurance just like any other apiary.

For those beekeepers who are experiencing issues with dive-bombing seagulls, the insurer says “unfortunately as the insured there is no cover for the beekeeper and also the gull cannot take a claim if stung”, so using an umbrella is probably the best protection.
