What personal data we collect and why we collect it
This website collects very little information. We store only the minimum of personal information. This includes the name and email addresses of registered members and where they have been added the addresses of members.
This information is kept on the website’s server for the administration of the web site.
When people visit our website their IP address is sent to Google Analytics, Statcounter and iThemes.
Google Analytics and Statcounter receive an anonymised version of the IP address. This means that they cannot identify the visitor, but can analyse visitor statistics for us. The full IP is sent to iThemes to help us protect our website and any private information in it from illegal entry and activity including brute force attacks.
Our contact forms do not save information but the email accounts of the recipients will. If the email address is a federation one, i.e. ending in @irishbeekeeping.ie, the email will be saved on our server for a minimum of three years. The personal information in the emails will not be shared outside of the federation and the people it was intended for or with whom it must be shared in order to act on it.
Cookies
This website, like most websites today, uses cookies. They are little bits of code that are stored on your browser. They are necessary for the functioning of the website. We only use first party cookies. i.e. they can only be read by our website. They help identify you when you return and mean that you do not have to log in to every page and can log in once and browse the other pages then. This cookie is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Advertising
There is advertising on our website, but these do not serve cookies. They do link to other websites where you can buy products. We accept no responsibility for the contents and or behaviour of those websites.
Who we Share Your Data With?
Your data is only shared with third parties when necessary to perform the service that you are entitled to, e.g. delivery of purchased products. If you purchase a product from our website, we will receive your name address and email and delivery address. Some of this information is forwarded to PayPal in order to complete the transaction. We never see or have any access to your credit card details. Thy are only shared with PayPal when you set up your account or use their services.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Our server is protected by an SSL certificate. This means that your information between your computer and our website is encrypted. This prevents the man in the middle attack. The website is also protected by security software.

All registered users will be notified as soon as possible if there is a successful attack on this website.
